The Mindful Tech Initiative had a great conversation with parents last Friday at the Principal's Coffee. Our big news is that Waterloo Icehouse has agreed to host a Mills Elementary Screen-Free Night every month on the second Tuesday of the month for the remainder of the school year! These will be nights when families in the Mills community can gather and have dinner with no screens and visit with other families who are trying to reduce screen time, too.

As a bonus, all families who attend (and remain screen-free at dinner) get entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card from Waterloo! Win/Win!! Our first night will be on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Look for more details to come home after the Thanksgiving holiday, but mark your calendars now!

We have also created a google form (ironic, we know) for families to report what they are doing at home to keep their kiddos off devices and into other activities. You can access the form HERE and we will report the findings at our next visit to the Principal's Coffee in January 2026.
