The Mills Elementary Newspaper Club gives students the opportunity to become real school reporters! Students will learn the basics of journalism, including interviewing, news writing, editing, photography, and reporting while working together to create a student newspaper featuring the people, events, and stories that make our school community special.

Enrollment Process:
Students interested in joining the Mills Elementary Newspaper Club must complete and submit a club application by the designated application deadline. Due to limited space, applications are reviewed anonymously by a panel of Mills teachers, and students are selected based on their completed applications.

Wicked Workshop Youth Architecture Program

Explore Architecture! Wicked Workshop is a maker-based program that introduces youth to architecture through reality-based projects that tackle the same "wicked" problems that architects face. This Fall, we’re exploring mystical dwellings for mysterious cats, backyard tree forts and passive solar powered Earthships from Taos. We’ll make a Monster House, talk about upcycling and water harvesting, create floor plans and build a tensile structure!

Chess Wizards’ Chess Enrichment Program provides students in grades K–8 with an engaging and educational experience that combines chess instruction with the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, strategy, and decision-making skills. Our experienced instructors provide a structured curriculum designed for students of all skill levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals to advanced players looking to strengthen their abilities.
Through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and strategic gameplay, students learn how to plan ahead, analyze situations, and build confidence both on and off the chessboard. Our program creates a supportive and inclusive environment where students can develop valuable life skills while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the game of chess.
