Principal's Message

Mountain Lion Families,

We continue to experience confirmed cases of Flu A and B at Mills. We are taking extra cleaning measures but you can imagine the challenge with 865 students on campus every day. We always want your child at school as much as possible but not if they are sick. That is especially true with flu and flu-like illnesses. The students don't benefit when they are feeling bad and the risk of spreading the illness is a real danger.

Please let see the letter below from the AISD Health team.

Stay Healthy!

Lalla Beachum, Principal

Families, The flu remains a significant problem in the Austin/Travis County area. If your child has been diagnosed with the flu, the absence of fever can be a good indicator of a child’s readiness to return to school, but parents should consult with their child’s pediatrician to determine the child’s return to school date. Persistent symptoms like excessive coughing and sneezing, which spread germs, even without fever, may still warrant the child staying home from school.

In health and kindness,

Tracy Spinner, M.Ed. Austin ISD, Assistant Director, Comprehensive Health
